Technical Support Operator


Technical Support Operators staff the front lines of our company - namely our 24/7/365 helpdesk. They're responsible for providing our customers with extraordinary customer service and support on a daily basis and ensuring that going above and beyond is just part of the job. In addition to technical prowess, our Technical Support Operators need to posses customer service skills that are way beyond average and also have an attitude and personality that makes them suited to work with people (our customers and their co-workers!) and make those people happy.
Compensation is dependent upon experience and skillset. General starting ranges are from $13 to $17 per hour.


Bonus
: If our Technical Support Operators know this stuff already, great. If not, they'll learn it in training and on the job:
  • cPanel/WHM, Plesk, and Directadmin control panels

  • Knowledge of PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby on Rails.

  • Can install PHP from source, enabling required modules. Also, can install a separate Python version that is separate from the operating system version.

  • Iptables firewalls (CSF, APF, etc.)

  • Common customer website apps, like Drupal, WordPress, MediaWiki, Magento, ZenCart, etc

  • MySQL commands for support or troubleshooting, like importing/dumping a database, simple SELECT statements or "SHOW PROCESSLIST"

What is the hiring process like?

We conduct our hiring process with the goal of finding the best possible person who we think is a mutual fit. In other words, we work to find people who fit with us as well as we fit with them. To help ensure there is mutual fit before a new employee starts, our hiring process is pretty extensive.

Applicants should expect:

  • Interviews, including an in-depth skills interview (technical or otherwise job related).

  • A short project or task to help us understand your abilities (for some positions).

  • A background check and drug test after an offer is made.

  • A 90 day trial period.

  • For non-support positions, three weeks of working in our customer service department to get a better understanding of our customers, products and services, and culture.
